May-I Jewellery is a luxury-plated jewellery brand specialising in its most popular items: 18-karat gold-plated pieces. We discovered this brand while visiting the Pacific Fair Mall, in Gold Coast, Australia or, as the locals would call it, Pac Fair. May-I Jewellery is an Australian women-owned small business located on the Gold Coast. Although we wanted to gatekeep this gem of a brand, it’s too good not to share. If you want to enjoy a layered luxury jewellery aesthetic, this brand is definitely worth a look. International shipping is also available for customers located outside of Australia.

The jewellery brand was founded by two best friends, Alisa and Rain. Through their brand, May-I, they provide unique jewellery at affordable prices. Their pieces allow you to style them to make a statement while remaining budget-friendly and enjoying long-lasting quality.
The two co-founders are gorgeous and often feature in promotional content for the brand. Showcasing their passion and dedication to the brand and its vision. Making their brand more authentic and empowering. Inspiring more young women to follow their passions and to create something beautiful for others to also enjoy. The amount of time and dedication these women have put into their line is remarkable, and I hope they are super proud of how far they have come as a business in the last few years.
Shopping Experience At Pacific Fair
In December 2023, May-I Jewellery had a pop-up store at the Pacific Fair Mall on the Gold Coast. When we visited, our team was greeted with a warm smile and a great hello when I walked towards the pop-up store they had set up. It seemed like the store was busy; many people lined up around the displays and bought many jewellery pieces, from necklaces to rings, from earrings to bangles. All of us were in awe of their range and wanted to buy every piece they had on display.
The store attendant came and spoke to me. She explained to me that the jewellery was made of a base of sterling silver and plated with a coating of 18-karat gold, meaning that not only was the piece of jewellery sturdy, but it also had a high quantity of gold plated on it to ensure that it would withstand wear and tear over time. Let me tell you, the short story is that I ended up buying a bangle that I had yet to remove from my wrist since December 2023, and now, seven months later, I can vouch for the quality of their jewellery. I have showered and exercised with the bangle since December, and honestly, I am astounded by the quality of the piece of jewellery.
The Sasha Bangle Bracelet By May-I Jewellery
This luxurious 18k gold-plated bangle has a solid stainless steel base, making it the perfect blend of durable and seriously gorgeous. The four faux diamonds featured across the front of the bangle add to the piece’s charm and scream RICH! I have received so many compliments about this bangle that I can’t keep it a secret any longer.
Styling
Of course, just like any other accessory, jewellery only enhances your outfit and overall polished appearance. Even if you are wearing the most basic outfit, you can use it to your advantage and add statement pieces of jewellery, such as the Sasha Bangle Bracelet, to add flair and style to your minimalistic old-money luxury aesthetic.

Preconceived Notion of Plated Jewellery
Our preconceived notion about gold-plated jewellery was that the gold plating would look artificial when worn against the skin. We put a solid 18k gold bangle against the Sasha Bangle Bracelet, and we were shocked to see that when they were worn together, you couldn’t tell the difference between which bangle was plated and which was made of solid gold.
The other characteristic of the bangle really added to the authentic feel of a solid gold bangle was its weight. This bangle isn’t flimsy or light when compared to different pieces of plated jewellery. It weighs in like a solid piece but stands more durable due to its stainless steel base. This is a selling point for those searching for the look and feel of a solid gold bangle but in a more durable and affordable piece.
Quality
I have scratched the bangle against the rough and jagged surfaces many times, and each time, I thought that the gold plating would be destroyed in those areas, but to my surprise, that wasn’t the case. Yes, those areas on the bangle were scratched, but even though the scratches were deep, they did not cause the gold to start peeling away from the stainless steel base of the bangle. The scratches were quite deep but never made the bangle look dented or discoloured. Which was impressive, considering I kept wearing jewellery while showering and exercising.
